Vancouver 2010 Olympics

The city of Vancouver was elected to be the Host City of the XXI Olympic Winter Games in 2010. This was done at the 115th IOC Session in Prague on 2 July 2003.

Tickets for the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games are now on sale, and fans have a number of different options for getting tickets depending on where they live.

Vancouver Schedule

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver begin with the Opening Ceremony on Feb. 12 and end with the Closing Ceremony on Feb. 28. Competition kicks off on Day 1 with men's individual ski jumping and finishes on Day 17 with the men's ice hockey gold medal game.

Officially, there are 7 medal sports on the Olympic Program for the Vancouver Games, with 11 associated disciplines. NBCOlympics.com considers certain "disciplines" to be "sports," such as freestyle skiing and short track speed skating, and thus presents a total of 15 medal sports, the same as in 2002 and 2006. Within the 15 sports are 86 medal events. One event will debut in Vancouver: ski cross, which is part of freestyle skiing.
